Istanbul- A Photographic Journey
I want to take you on a photographic journey through possibly one of the most beautiful cities I have visited in Springtime. That city is Istanbul, Turkey and I was there about a week ago (Mid-April). With the poor weather we had experienced a couple of days earlier gone, the sun returned and transformed the city into another place full of colour. The blossom trees were in full bloom alongside tulips of every colour imaginable and then there were the mosques with their tall spires like salutes to the sun and beautiful symmetry in their many domes.
Vegetable and fruit sellers pushed their wooden carts down the vibrant streets past colourful restaurants and the many cats and dogs who seem to share the streets as if they were people. We spent our time outdoors, this was no time to be stuck in the crowds of the Grand Bazaar or inside the mosques. We soaked up every last ray and when the inevitable came and the sun finally set, we walked through those same gardens and streets to find more colour bouncing of the domes of the mosques and from the jets of the fountain. It was and unforgettable day in an unforgettable place and whenever I hear the name Istanbul, the first thing to come to my mind will be the colour.
Stay tuned as the colour keeps coming from Istanbul as we explore the Spice Bazaar and Topkapi Palace!
